The “Watermelons”
The Melons arrive to Eerie in 1904 when the recently widowed Jonathan Melon stepped out a train with his two children Amanda and Adam. His daughter later died but his son became a comedian.

Comedian Adam Wilson Melon Changed his middle name to Water because he lost a bet with millionaire Lawrence Batley on 1934 and since them the Melon family has been known as “The Watermelons”.

John married and had two children, Bernard and Bernice. Bernice died but Bernard lived, went to war and returned unscratched to marry and had two children of his own. He named them Candid and Claire. Claire died at an early age but Candid grew up to be a father of Daniel and Dianne. A photo of the current “Water”Melon family from 2004 shows them eating breakfast the morning of the day that their mother died. Daniel Melon and his children live at St. Andrews he works at Southgate.
