d20 Modern: Heavens and Earths
IN EERIE: The otyugh (pronounced /ˈɒtjəɡ/), or gulguthra, is a type of mutated experiment that was abandoned in the sewers of Eerie (possibly by ChemTech labs) and multiplied. Sometimes there are more than the denizens of Eeriertown can control and been hungry creatures, they try their lucky upside looking for more “food” to eat.
IN GAME TERMS:
Environment – Otyughs are usually found underground, in places like sewers.
Typical physical characteristics
An otyugh is an aberration with a large (eight feet in diameter), bloated body covered with a rock-like skin that is brownish gray in color, which is in turn covered with dung. An adult otyugh usually weighs around 500 pounds. Its three thick legs give an otyugh slow ground movement, but enable it to pivot quickly. With three eyes on a leaf-like stalk that moves quickly from side to side, it can quickly scan a large area. An otyugh’s primary means of attack is by two long tentacles which are laden with bony thorn-like ridges.
Otyughs are usually neutral, though some neo-otyughs are evil.
Otyughs are rarely found in groups of more than four individuals, and are often solitary. They are semi intelligent and know how to stay away of other dungeon denizens, passively agreeing not to attack them in exchange for their dung and body wastes, which they then devour. Neo-otyughs are bigger, older and more violent versions of the otyughs that are more vicious, and usually attack intruders on sight. Otyughs mate each year for one month, with one offspring produced. It takes the newborn four months to mature. Otyughs weigh 500–750 pounds. They speak one local language.
Otyughs have the following traits:
Darkvision (Ex): Otyughs can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and otyughs can function with no light at all.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the otyugh must hit an opponent at least one size category smaller than itself with a tentacle attack. If it gets a hold, it can constrict (see below).
Constrict (Ex): An otyugh deals automatic tentacle damage to a creature smaller than itself with a successful grapple check.
Disease (Ex): An otyugh’s bite carries a nasty disease called filth fever. Filth fever—bite: Fortitude save (DC 16) negates; incubation period 1d3 days; initial and secondary damage 1d3 Dex and 1d3 Con.
Skill Bonus: An otyugh gains a +8 species bonus on Hide checks when in its lair, due to its natural coloration.
